Thinking about Posture(s) on The Journey

Four "Postures" on The Journey

stasis:  The "Story" of separation
Latin, from Greek, act or condition of standing, stopping, from histasthai to stand
a state of static balance or equilibrium : STAGNATION
a state or period of stability during which little or no evolutionary change in a lineage occurs (See Status Quo)

homeostasis:  The Field of Opening and Practice
Latin, from Greek homoios ‘like’ + -stasis.
the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.

hypostasis:  Impasse and Surrender (kenosis)
Latin from Greek hupostasis ‘sediment’, later ‘essence, substance’, from hupo ‘under’ + stasis ‘standing’.
an underlying reality or substance, as opposed to attributes or to that which lacks substance.

ecstasy:  Encountering the Sacred
from Old French extasie, via late Latin from Greek ekstasis ‘standing outside oneself’, based on ek- ‘out’ + histanai ‘to place’.
an emotional or religious frenzy or trance-like state, originally one involving an experience of mystic self-transcendence.
